A hometown girl who has spent her life devoted to her family, faith and community, Esther now serves as an East Ridge City Council Member and as a professional, caring nurse for more than 35 years.
Life Experience that Drives Policies with Purpose...
Healthcare
The compassion and dedication nurses are known will always drive my views on healthcare in our state and country. I’ve been a caring nurse for more than 35 years, and I have witnessed firsthand the need for more patient control of health care decisions, not from insurance companies or our government.
Today, healthcare spending consumes more than 32% of the Tennessee budget. The power of insurance companies has forever silenced the needs of patients and the opportunities for needed reforms that will help reduce costs of services provided and increase efficiencies.
Economic Development, Regulations and Taxes
Yes, these three are directly tied together. As a homeowner, a worker, a mom of a small business owner and a public servant with a voting record, I know firsthand there are a few truths that are forgotten by those who make rules and regulations. When your local economy improves through economic development and job growth and your government is careful in spending, your property taxes can be held lower.
As an East Ridge City Council Member, I am committed to small government with a pledge to actively pursue conservative policies and actions that attract businesses, new jobs and economic growth to prevent an increase in property taxes. Yes, I’ve done it, not just talked about it.
Public Education
I am a product of public education, a mother of children who attended public schools and a believer in the value of our local schools. East Ridge High School has a career and technical education curriculum that equips students in high school to immediately enter the workforce upon graduation or have critical work experience as they enter a college program. I believe we must do more in public education and support innovative reforms, like what is happening at East Ridge High School and others, that empower students and parents to have the best classroom outcomes while using our tax dollars as a sound investment in our kids – not a bureaucracy.
Faith, Family and Freedoms
As a Christian who knows we live in the greatest nation, my commitment to you will remain strong and consistent. I will support and sponsor legislation that supports and protects life – starting in the womb through the sunset years of life; the right of the Second Amendment to own, carry and bear arms; our First Amendment right to worship and speak freely; our Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights to have, own and protect our private property and the acts of government to be limited, transparent and accountable to the people it serves.
I am blessed to be a mother of three grown children and grandmother to the five best grandkids. I am active in my house of worship, Graceworks Church, the East Ridge Alumni Association and Optimist Club.
